SNOW STRIKES AGAIN 2010

February ushered in cold temperatures again, as one of the largest snowstorms this area has seen in a few years swept through. School was cancelled for three days as streets and parking lots thawed.

On Monday (2/1), thirty students and adults gathered in the MJCA parking lot to clear the walks of snow and ice. These willing volunteers spent two and a half hours making sure that when school returned to session, the paths would be clear. Rest assured, numerous snowballs were thrown in the process!

MJCA SPIRIT WEEK 2010

The first week of February brought with it the excitement of spirit week and Homecoming! The hallways transformed as students took part in dress up days and participated in spirit competitions at lunch. Despite the fact that snow eliminated two days from the spirit week schedule, our student body still came ready to celebrate and have fun.

When school resumed on Wednesday , students dressed up as their favorite group or duo. On Thursday, all the favorite super heroes were represented, and Friday brought with it black out day in support of the high school varsity basketball teams.

HOMECOMING 2010

February brought many of the MJCA family together for one special night of basketball and festivities.  MJCA varsity basketball hosted Riverside, a region opponent while alumni, students and parents gathered to support the Saints.  A special Homecoming presentation between games ushered in the 2009-2010 female Homecoming ambassadors, including Miss MJCA, Faith Fallin.  In addition to the traditional Homecoming presentations, there was a special moment of recognition for  varsity boys’ coach, Paul Christensen.  Two nights prior, Coach Christensen had reached his 200th career victory after a win over Currey Ingram.  Former player and coach, David Kitchen Jr. returned to present him with a plaque from the school marking his success.

Above the action of the night, alumni mingled in the hospitality room on the track, catching up with one another.  A packed house witnessed two victories from MJCA teams and experienced another night full of memories!  Congratulations to all our Homecoming ambassadors!
